Wood is currently recruiting for Civil. Mechanical & Electrical Engineering Apprentices to join the Technical & Site Supervision team 0n the North London Heat & Power Project

From your first day, you will be given all the support you need to progress your career as an Engineer. Our apprenticeship allows you to study for an academic qualification at a local university on day release whilst working and learning alongside respected, technical professionals. Support from a dedicated mentor will provide guidance through your personal and professional development and we actively encourage you to work towards an accredited professional qualification with the relevant professional Institution.

Your work experiences and responsibilities will gradually increase through the duration of your apprenticeship programme as your technical knowledge and skills develop. Additional off the job training will be provided to give you the starter skills required to develop in your role, for example, health, safety and wellbeing, use of design and drafting software packages, CAD standards, report writing, basic surveying techniques, quality assurance and document control.

Key Responsibilities

As an Apprentice Engineer, you will work within project teams helping us deliver effective and professional services for a range of varied and high-profile clients. You will be assisting in the development of design solutions and multi-disciplinary design activities on a range of water, wastewater and waste projects and as you progress, we will give you opportunities to take on more responsibility and broaden your skills.

By the end of your apprenticeship we would expect you to be able to:

· Assist in the delivery of a range of projects relating to water, wastewater and waste projects

· Work alongside our project engineers in the development of engineering designs

· Provide technical input to projects including undertaking site surveys, analysing data and managing project tasks

· Deliver high-quality project outputs such as reports, documents and drawings

· Produce engineering sketches and drawings using various 2D and 3D drafting tools including AutoCAD, Revit and Civil 3D

· Work closely with team members and other Wood staff

· Ensure that Quality Assurance systems and procedures are followed

· Respond to customer requests (internal and external) ensuring that their needs are met

Qualifications You should have:

· Level 3 civil/mechanical/electrical engineering apprenticeship or

· Relevant BTEC Extended Diploma in Engineering (Distinction Grade) or

· Minimum of 3 A levels (Grade B or above including Maths, Further Maths and/or Science)

Experience

· No previous experience is required

Skills You should be enthusiastic about civil engineering demonstrating:

· A positive and proactive approach

· Punctuality and reliability

· The ability to work on your own or within a team

· A willingness to apply yourself to a workplace environment

· A commitment to extending your learning

· A keen interest in problem solving

· An attention to detail

· A good level of computer literacy including MS Office
