It is now almost a year since the Council published its ambitious Climate Action Plan which, alongside setting out how we will reduce our own greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2030 and across the borough by 2040, included a commitment to review how we are getting on.

To meet this commitment, we have prepared a Progress Report setting out the things we did in 2020/21 and what we aim to do in the year ahead.

There has also been a Carbon Emissions Review, which shows that for the Council they have reduced by 19% in a year, while across Enfield they have fallen by 2%.

Whilst these figures are promising they should be viewed in the context of a global pandemic which is changing the way we all live. This has been considered in the Progress Report, although the environmental impacts, both good and bad, will take many years to understand.

Before we publish them, we want to share both with you and ask:

  • That you tell us what climate action you (or your organisation) are taking.
  • For your thoughts on what is most of interest in our work so that we can better communicate this to people.
