Key issues discussed at recent meeting of Enfield Safeguarding Children Board.
DfE Review of Local Safeguarding Children Boards
The DfE has announced a review of LSCBs in England. The review is being led by Alan Wood, former Director of Children’s Services in Hackney. Board members are invited to provide feedback to the consultation. You can download Alan Wood’s letter which explains the thinking behind the review and the process and also has a link to the consultation. Watch this space for news on the final report which is due in March.
Changes to the Single Point of Entry (SPOE)
There are going to be a number of changes to the way referrals for vulnerable children and young people are made in Enfield. You can find out more about the SPOE Integration Project on the Single Point of Entry webpage.
Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) Update
Lots of work has been going on in relation to CSE in the last few months. A CSE Peer Audit has been carried out which found that there is a good standard of work on CSE cases particularly those where the new CSE Prevention Team are involved. In January 2016 the London Safeguarding Children Board published a new chapter of the London Child Protection Procedures relating to CSE ‘Safeguarding children at risk of sexual exploitation. You can download our Summary Briefing Paper covering this chapter and another focusing on extremism; Safeguarding children exposed to extremist ideology. Visit our CSE & Missing page for more info
