Shopping havens in all corners of Enfield

Crowds gather for Christmas event at Palace Shopping Centre

Shopaholics beware. Enfield is full of different places to shop to suit all sorts of budgets, tastes and styles. Let us take you through the borough to whet your appetite.

Enfield Town

When you think of shopping in Enfield, thoughts will immediately turn to Palace Shopping Centre with big brands representing the whole retail spectrum. The iconic Pearsons department store has spent more than a century in Church Street. For those liking a bit of luxury, the store has designer brands in its bag department while the makeup department can rival any London store, with the iconic MAC recently joining the floor. Elsewhere Body Shop, Marks & Spencer and H&M rub shoulders with relative newcomers such as Smiggle and Paperchase.

Southgate / Palmers Green / Winchmore Hill

Independent shops are thriving in Enfield. Palmers Green has become the go-to place for unique cafes with the Starfish Café selling artwork alongside espressos. Winchmore Hill has Pretty English which stocks original gifts and homewares, many by local artisans. Southgate high street is a joy for hair and beauty with Karizma and Venus Nail Spa to name but a few of the offerings.

A10 Retail Park

Enfield Retail Park has some big names with big footprints. Next alone has a 60,000 square foot store. Other well-known names include Halfords, Sports Direct, Toys R Us and Aldi. If you can, pop down to the now infamous Krispy Kreme just a little further down the A10. Enfield’s Krispy Kreme was the first stand-alone store in the UK after a concession opened in Harrods to much hysteria.

Hertford Road / Fore Street

Sometimes you need a go-to place for simple household goods and Fore Street / Hertford Road has that in spades. Fore Street Electricals is an independent electrical wholesalers with an extensive choice. City Paints further down the Hertford Road has all those odd bits and bobs you need when decorating as does Laza Plumbing & Heating Merchants.

Edmonton Green

Edmonton Green Shopping Centre is your go-to place for big shopping at friendly prices. Well-known retailers such as Argos and Asda are a welcome sight. But the big draw is the market area. Fancy some fresh fish, meat or veg? Yes, it’s all there, along with make-up, accessories and fabric stalls.
