Enfield Council announced this week that additional grave space is now available at Southgate Cemetery, Waterfall Road, N14, to help meet the increased demand for burials in the borough.

The beautiful Victorian cemetery, the only cemetery in the heart of Southgate, has recently undergone renovation as a result of which new burials can be facilitated. The 13-acre site provides a peaceful last resting place for loved ones in leafy and tranquil surroundings.

The plots can be used for any burials, and because the site is owned by Enfield Council, prices are very competitive. A variety of plots are available in addition to traditional lawn graves, such as mausolea and burial chambers in a soon to be completed section within the cemetery, as well as a section for the burial of ashes.

Enfield Council's Cabinet Member for Environment, Cllr Daniel Anderson, said "There is a severe shortage of burial space in London. Enfield Council, like many other London boroughs, is therefore looking at ways to accommodate new burials.

"Southgate Cemetery has recently undergone significant redevelopment, which frees up more space, so residents now have a wide range of choices available at the site."
