Enfield is supporting London Trading Standards Week aimed at raising the profile of trading standards across the capital and promoting best practice for businesses.

Kicking off on 25 September, Enfield Council and London’s other 32 local authority trading standards services will be joining forces to highlight issues affecting consumers and businesses daily.

On Wednesday, 27 September an Enfield Council trading standards representative will be at Sainsbury’s Supermarket in Winchmore Hill to discuss ways in which consumers can prevent themselves from being ripped off by rogue traders and how to spot the signs of a scam.

Enfield Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment, Cllr Daniel Anderson said: “Enfield Council’s trading standards officers offer an invaluable service, helping to tackle rogue traders and fraudsters. They also provide advice for businesses on how to trade within the confines of the law. Please take the opportunity to come along during the week to meet officers to find out more and help keep our business communities strong and well-regulated.”

The week of action will focus on several themes, providing an insight into the breadth of work Enfield’s trading standards team is involved in. The themes are:
• Combatting the illegal sale of knives to the under 18s
• Tackling rogue letting agents
• Scams, frauds and financial abuse
• Supporting good business
• Dangerous consumer products
