The Chicken and Pizza Point fast food outlet, in High Street, Enfield, EN3 and its Director, have been ordered to pay £4,800 in fines, costs and a victim surcharge after food safety inspections found dirty surfaces and a sink covered in cigarette ash.

The Director, Mr Adnan Afzal, also of High Street, EN3, was also given a one-year conditional discharge.

The shop, together with Mr Afzal, pleaded guilty to three breaches of The Food Safety and Hygiene (England) Regulations, 2013 at Tottenham Magistrates' Court on Thursday 11 August after prosecution by Enfield Council.

During a visit on 11 November 2015 The Chicken and Pizza Point fast food outlet was found to have numerous hygiene failings, including filthy surfaces including the floors, door handles, electrical sockets and plug tops, a cracked and leaking wash basin covered in cigarette ash, a mouldy chopping board and raw chicken being unsafely stored.

Enfield Council's Cabinet Member for Environment, Cllr Daniel Anderson, said: "It is completely unacceptable for places which sell food to endanger the health of customers by failing to take proper precautions and operating filthy and unhygienic premises.

"Enfield Council does not tolerate businesses who cannot or will not comply with the law. We take a dim view of premises which fail to adhere to safe storage of food, or who do not keep their shops clean and we will continue to take action against dirty or unhygienic food premises that endanger the health of our residents."
