To celebrate the outstanding achievement of Charlotte Dujardin, who was born in Enfield, winning gold in the equestrian events at the Rio Olympics, one of the new blocks to be built as part of the redevelopment of the Alma Estate will be named 'Valegro' after her horse.

Charlotte Dujardin, OBE is the most successful British dressage rider in the history of the sport and the winner of all major titles and world records. She has been described as the most dominant dressage rider of her era.

It has already been agreed that the road running through the 38 new homes, which are due to be completed in the coming months, is to be named Dujardin Mews after the Olympic medallist herself and now this new block will follow the sporting theme.

Enfield Council's Cabinet Member for Housing and Housing Regeneration, Cllr Ahmet Oykener, said: "Dujardin Mews are some of the first council homes that Enfield Council has built in more than 40 years and we believe the inclusion of the new 'Valegro' block is a fitting addition to mark the achievements of this great Olympian.

"I'm delighted that the Alma Estate regeneration is forging ahead. The new look development will play a vital role in transforming Ponders End and act as a stimulus for the wider regeneration of the area."
