Enfield's green fingered, giant pumpkin grower, Cllr George Savva, has served up another significant squash to help raise funds for the Mayor of Enfield’s charity.

The 60lb whopper, which was grown on the fertile ground of a Cllr Savva’s Enfield Council managed allotment, will be on display at the Dugdale Centre for the next few weeks, to encourage people to donate money to the Mayor’s charity which aims to raise money for the NHS and coronavirus relief efforts.

It will then be chopped up and used to craft delicious recipes for the Dugdale Café’s hungry customers.

Cllr Savva, Enfield Council’s Cabinet Member for Licensing and Regulatory Services, said: “Enfield’s allotments are amazing places and provide the perfect ground to grow a huge array of fruit and vegetables as well as giant pumpkins.

"Maintaining an allotment is also good exercise, which you can still do while socially distancing in line with the current coronavirus restrictions.

“This year, having grown a particularly large squash, I have decided to donate it to a good cause and raise money to help the people of Enfield.”
