Police made three arrests after two gangs engaged in a street battle in Edmonton on the early hours of Saturday morning (June 15).

Enfield Council’s CCTV team alerted the police at around 4.36am on 15 June after spotting two groups of eastern European men fighting with metal poles and throwing stones and bottles at each other in Fore Street, Edmonton.

During the altercation a silver Nissan Almera was used to run over one of the men involved in the fight, he was taken to hospital with a suspected fracture of the pelvis but later discharged.

The combatants fled before police arrived but two were arrested after they were spotted discarding a firearm – later revealed to be a plastic toy - and another arrested in connection with the vehicle offence.

Enfield Council’s Cabinet Member for Community Safety and Cohesion, Cllr Nneka Keazor, said: “We are determined to make Enfield a safer place in which to live, work and visit. This sort of behaviour has no place in a civilised society and we will not tolerate fighting on the streets.

“We will continue to support the police to reduce crime and apprehend offenders through the deployment of our world class CCTV camera system as we seek to make Enfield a safer borough and keep its residents safe from harm.”
