Instrumental and vocal music lessons

Applications for the spring term 2019 will close on 9 November 2018.

To apply for spring term 2019, complete the tuition form (PDF).

Enfield Music Service can arrange instrumental and vocal lessons for students who go to school or live in Enfield.

Lessons can be one-to-one or as part of a pair or a group. Most lessons take place in school during the school day and may be at lunch or break times. At secondary school music lessons are often at different times each week so the same school lessons are not missed every time.

We can also provide lessons on Saturdays Houndsfield Primary School, Park Suite Building and Tuesday evenings at Highlands Secondary School for many popular instruments. Lessons outside school cost £12 more.

We recommend that children do not start to learn a musical instrument before they are in year two at school and even then some instruments may not be suitable.

Free lessons

If your child receives free school meals or is in local authority care and the school has agreed to fund the lessons, you must attach a letter signed by the school this with your application form or renewal registration document.

We can also offer one term of free taster lessons on double bass but you will have to pay to hire a double bass to practice on.

Providing an instrument

Students will need an instrument for lessons and practice at home. Many instruments can be hired but not keyboards, recorders, drum kits, pianos or guitars. For more information, see our fees and charges.

HM Revenue & Customs allows the Enfield Music Service to offer an assisted instrument purchase scheme which will save you the cost of VAT if you want to buy your child their instrument. For more information, see our Assisted Instrument Purchase Scheme guidance (PDF)
