Child sexual exploitation is a form of sexual abuse that involves manipulation or coercion of young people under 18 into sexual activity in exchange for things such as money, gifts, food, accommodation, drugs and alcohol, or affection. The manipulation involves befriending children and gaining their trust.
We aim to prevent the sexual exploitation of children and young people in Enfield and to support the victims of this abuse. We work with police who have experience supporting children and young people in these situations, as well as other services in Enfield, such as Enfield Safeguarding Children’s Board and schools.
Referrals to the team are made by Enfield’s Single Point of Entry or the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub. Professionals who want to discuss child sexual exploitation prevention can contact the team on 020 8379 2200.
