Enfield Parent Infant Partnership

Enfield Parent Infant Partnership (EPIP) is a service for parents-to-be and parents with babies up to 18 months at referral. EPIP may be able to offer you help and support if you have at any time thought, or felt:

  • things are more difficult than you anticipated
  • low or depressed and concerned that this may be having an effect on your baby
  • very worried and anxious since the birth of your baby and that it may be affecting your relationship together
  • concerned that you have not formed a bond with your baby in the way you had hoped you would
  • concerned about your baby’s development or how your baby is doing, and feeling stressed about this
  • becoming a new parent stirred up some unexpected difficult feeling

What is EPIP?

EPIP is a small team consisting of a Specialist Health Visitor, Parent Infant Psychotherapists and an adult therapist. They work with parents and their babies to help understand and work out, with you, some of your worries and concerns. Together with you and your baby, we think about the feelings you each have and try to understand and find ways of communicating and enjoying each other.

There are different ways that EPIP can help. An initial conversation with you, or the person who referred you, will determine what can be done. For example:

  • a home visit from our Specialist Health Visitor
  • some sessions with our Parent Infant Psychotherapist in the clinic or at a children’s centre near you

If for some reason we do not feel that EPIP is the service for you, we will signpost you to more appropriate services. For more information, email beh-tr.epip@nhs.net

If you are a professional, you can view EPIP guide (PDF) or download our referral form (PDF).
