Annual canvass

The Electoral Registration Office is required to carry out an annual canvass to ensure the electoral register is up to date.

Enfield residents must fill out a household enquiry form, which will be sent to every household. The form will include details of registered voters in the household. It is important that you do not ignore this letter.

The annual canvass will start on Thursday 2 August 2018.

What you need to do

When you receive your form, you will need to check the information is correct and follow the instructions on how to fill it out if there are any changes. If there are no changes, you will need to respond confirming this.

The deadline to respond is Thursday 29 November 2018.

There are four ways to complete the form:

  • online
  • telephone
  • text message
  • post

If you are not responding by post, you will need part one and part two of your security code to respond, which can be found on the front page of the form.

You must include the name and nationality of everyone aged 16 or over who is living at the address and eligible to register to vote.

Next steps

The household enquiry form is not a registration form, so if you add new names to the form an electoral registration form will be sent to those people inviting them to register to vote. They can wait for the letter or register online. Registering to vote may help improve your credit rating.

If you tell us someone has moved, we will send them a letter to confirm removal from the electoral register.

Reminders

Properties that don’t respond to the household enquiry form will be visited by electoral registration canvassers with reminder forms and to help residents complete the form on the doorstep. Help us to save tax payers money and respond to the form in the first instance.
