Stray dogs

You can report any stray dog even if it has a tag. You should first check the dog collar for a tag and contact the owner.

You can contact our dog collection service on 0781 551 2833 every day. If you have taken the dog home, we can also come and pick it up.

If the dog is aggressive you should call the police on 999.

We will try to respond as soon as possible but may not be able to pick up any stray dogs in the last hour. Outside of opening hours, you can leave a message and we will respond on the next working day.

Stray dogs are kept at our kennels for seven days while we try to find the owner. If it is not claimed during this period, we will rehome the dog.

Microchipping of Dogs (England) - New legislation

From April 2016, it is compulsory for all dog owners to have their dog microchipped and to keep the details up to date. All dogs must be microchipped by the time they are 8 weeks old.

Owners of dogs not microchipped will be given advice and issued with a 21 day notice. If the dog is still not microchipped after 21 days the owner can be liable for a fine of up to £500.

We will charge £8 if the dog is microchipped by us whilst in our stray dogs kennels.
