Climate Change Task Force

In response to our climate emergency declaration, we have set up a Climate Change Task Force to lead on making the organisation carbon neutral by 2030.

The first meeting was held in September 2019, with Councillor Ian Barnes (Chair) setting out the scale and importance of the challenge in his introduction. This was followed by a debate between councillors, senior officers and young mayors.

View the introduction from the Chair (PDF), meeting action notes (PDF) and terms of reference (PDF).

The Climate Change Task Force will build on progress already made in reducing our carbon footprint, and help us introduce initiatives to improve residents' quality of life while helping tackle climate change.

It will work with residents, staff and organisations such as Extinction Rebellion and Divest Enfield, to deliver its aims and look at areas such as:

  • physical supply chain
  • council operations and buildings
  • staff
  • residents
  • landscape
  • commercial and community tenants
  • investing in and building renewable energy

This will also help us prepare a new Sustainable Enfield Plan.
