In response to our climate emergency declaration, we have set up a Climate Change Task Force to lead on making the organisation carbon neutral by 2030.
The February 2020 meeting of the Climate Change Task Force was an opportunity for the group to go through the initial draft of the Council's climate action strategy. There were also updates on communications and engagement.

The second and most recent meeting of the Climate Change Task Force happened in November 2019. At the meeting, the first results of baseline work were presented. Updates were also given on progress, and talks were held around communications and engagement, including with schools.

The first meeting was held in September 2019, with Councillor Ian Barnes (Chair) setting out the scale and importance of the challenge in his introduction. This was followed by a debate between councillors, senior officers and young mayors.
The Climate Change Task Force will build on progress already made in reducing our carbon footprint, and help us introduce initiatives to improve residents' quality of life while helping tackle climate change.
It will work with residents, staff and organisations such as Extinction Rebellion and Divest Enfield, to deliver its aims and look at areas such as:
