Apprenticeships and work experience

The government has committed to an additional three million apprenticeship starts in England by 2020 as a way of increasing vocational skills.

We are committed to recruiting apprentices for our internal apprenticeship scheme. In the last six years over 275 people benefited from the opportunity to gain recognised qualifications and develop professional skills while earning a salary.

You can apply for an apprenticeship with us if you are aged 16 and over (there is no upper age limit), have GSCE Maths and English grades A-D or pass our basic skills test, and live in the borough.

We will provide any additional requirements for the specific apprenticeship framework/standard in the job advert.

Our wide range of apprenticeship opportunities include:

  • business administration
  • civil engineering
  • horticulture
  • housing
  • IT
  • procurement
  • sports development

We can arrange unpaid volunteering or work experience placements as part of your career development or further education. Email work.experience@enfield.gov.uk to request a placement.

We will need your up-to-date CV and a covering letter outlining:

  • the field where you want to work
  • the skills you have and would like to gain as part of your experience
  • your availability

There is a very high demand for work experience placements. The more information you provide the better we will be to meet your request.

If you're still in compulsory education, you will need to talk to your school's career advisor.
