We aim to offer our employees a very competitive pay and benefits package.
We have different pay scales for the various jobs we advertise. If you are employed, you will start at the bottom of your salary range and progress one point each year until you reach the top of the pay scale. Progression through the management pay scales (MM and above) is based on individual performance. You will progress one point up the scale each year based on your performance, until the maximum point of the grade is reached.
We will offer you 24-32 days of holiday when you start, which will be based on the job pay scale. If you are still with us after four years, we will add extra days to your annual leave from your fifth year.
|Pay range||0-4 years||over 5 years|
|Up to and including scale 4||24 days||29 days|
|Scales 5-6||25 days||30 days|
|SO1 and above||26 days||31 days|
|MM and Head of Service||29 days||31 days|
|Assistant Directors and Directors||29 days||32 days|
|Executive Directors||32 days||35 days|
You will get eight public holidays per year and an extra day off at Christmas. You may be able to take extended annual leave by transferring some of your leave entitlement from one year to the next.

We provide a childcare salary sacrifice scheme that can save you money on the cost of childcare. If you join this scheme, your gross salary will be reduced by the salary sacrifice amount. You will save money by not paying tax or National Insurance contributions on the amount that you have ‘sacrificed’. There is a limit on the amount you can sacrifice each month.
We can offer you an interest free season ticket loan repayable over three or ten months.
You will be able to claim mileage if you use your car for work-related activities. The rate for this mileage will depend on how many miles you do in a year. If you are on a MM2 or above salary grade, you can only claim for reimbursement of reasonable work-related expenses and the cost of travel incurred while travelling outside of the borough.
If you use your pedal cycle or motor cycle for business travel, you can claim a small allowance.
We can provide employees with new bikes and safety equipment on a tax-free basis. Safety equipment can include:
If you join the scheme, you can choose a new bike and safety equipment, up to the value of £1,000, from a local partner bike shop. You will need to agree to a reduction of your gross salary for a 12 month period to cover your hire costs.
