Local Studies library and archive centre

Our Local Studies library and archive identifies, acquires, and preserves materials that document the history of Enfield. You can visit and discover a unique collection of historical documents dating back to the 13th century.

We have received £79,500 from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) for our innovative Enfield at War project that will increase understanding of the impact of the First and Second World Wars in Enfield.

We're open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays 9am - 12:30pm and 1:30pm - 5pm and operate by appointment only.

To book an appointment, email the local studies officer or call on 020 8379 2724. Though you're welcome to drop in, you won't be able to have a consultation without an appointment. We can't guarantee that the Local Studies Unit will be open when the local studies officer is absent.

Oral history subjects and old photos

If you have any interesting memories or stories from your life in Enfield, we would love to hear from you so we can capture your memories forever.

If you have any photos showing the changes in the borough, we'd be interested in seeing them. We're looking for anything from the 19th Century to the 1990s showing Edmonton, Enfield or Southgate. If you send us originals, we'll scan them and return them to you.

Email the local studies officer or call on 020 8379 2724.
