Illegal street trading

You can report illegal street trading if anyone is selling items on the street for a profit without a street trading licence.

Licenses are not needed for:

  • alcohol wholesalers
  • buskers
  • certified pedlars
  • charitable collections approved by the Metropolitan Police Service
  • leaflet advertising
  • news vendors (including Big Issue sellers)
  • not for profit markets on private land, Enfield Town and Edmonton Green

Individuals found street trading illegally can receive a £150 Fixed Penalty Notice, go to court and receive an additional fine of up to £1,000. Any goods can also be taken as evidence.
