The Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) (PDF) was adopted on 13 January 2021. It seeks to ensure the active, meaningful and continued involvement of local communities and stakeholders in planning. It sets out how, when and who will be consulted throughout the preparation of the Local Plan and other planning documents prepared by the council, as well as setting out how the community can respond to planning applications.
The new SCI has been updated to reflect current legislation, and places greater emphasis on meaningful community engagement. It has also been updated following changes to the approach to community engagement due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Changes have been incorporated based on comments received in response to the consultation, which ran for six weeks from 25 February to 9 April 2020. The consultation statement (PDF) summarises the responses received and changes made.
An Equalities Impact Assessment (EqIA) (PDF) was undertaken.
