The Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) seeks to ensure the active, meaningful and continued involvement of local communities and stakeholders in planning. It sets out how, when and who will be consulted throughout the preparation of the Local Plan and other planning documents prepared by the council, as well as setting out how the community can respond to planning applications.
The SCI was first adopted in June 2006, and a second review (PDF) was adopted in November 2015.
Recent changes to planning regulations require SCIs to be reviewed every five years, and include information on how we are involved in the neighbourhood planning process.
The third (draft) SCI (PDF) was published for consultation for a period of six weeks from Tuesday 25 February to Thursday 9 April 2020.
The consultation is now closed. We are considering comments received and will determine whether any changes to the revised SCI are required. Once this has taken place, we will adopt the SCI including any changes.
