Collections by the British Heart Foundation

You can request a free furniture collection from the British Heart Foundation, if items are in good condition. This helps to save good quality unwanted furniture from being thrown away. Items are resold and all proceeds go towards heart disease research and patient care.

There is no limit on the number of collections each household can receive. Collections are made Wednesday to Saturday, 8am - 3pm. The BHF will only collect furniture from inside your home. Items must be clean and dry, with fire labels attached.

For information on what can and can't be collected, visit the British Heart Foundation. If your furniture is not suitable for reuse, you can take it a recycling centre or request a collection from us below.

You will need to leave your items out at the front edge boundary of your property. If you live in a block of flats, place your items by your bin store area, or where you would place your rubbish for collection.

Do not place heavy items in black rubbish bags in case they break when we collect them. We only collect items that have been booked for collection. They should be easy to identify and pick up by our collectors.

Collections are made Monday to Friday, 6:30am - 4pm.

Changes and cancellations

There is a £15.50 charge for cancelling your collection with less than three working days' notice. You will not receive a refund if you cancel with less than one working day's notice.

Mattress collections by Matt UK

You can request a mattress recycling collection from Matt UK for a charge.

Recycled mattresses are used by different industries such as steel, textile and carpet manufacturers. If mattresses are reusable, they are donated to registered charities.
