Staying safe during the coronavirus pandemic

To protect ourselves and the people around us during the coronavirus pandemic, there are four simple things we can all do:

  • Wash hands - keep washing your hands regularly
  • Cover face - wear a face covering in enclosed spaces and on public transport
  • Make space - stay at least two metres apart, or one metre with a face covering or if other precautions are in place
  • Fresh air - bring fresh air into a room and remove older stale air containing virus particles. This will reduce the chance of spreading COVID-19.

For the latest health information and advice, visit the NHS web pages.

If you have at least one of the main symptoms of coronavirus, book a test and isolate until you get the results. The main symptoms are:

  • a new and continuous cough
  • a high temperature
  • a loss of, or change to, your sense of smell or taste

The government has published a roadmap, outlining what you can and can’t do. You can view the roadmap at GOV.UK – COVID-19 restrictions in a variety of formats and languages. You can also find information about working from home, exercising and meeting other people, childcare, business closures, and financial support.

If you're struggling with essential items such as food and medication, as a result of coronavirus restrictions, read what support is available from the local community on our local support page.
